Overview:
- Type of Camp: Trail Camp
- Elevation: 8787 ft
- Number of Campsites: 8
- Water: Occasionally available from a slow trickling well. Don't count on this as a water supply
Things to Do at Shaefers Pass :
- Climb Shaefers Peak: A peak with a nice view of the Tooth. It is a fairly easy hike, and won't take too long.
- Program at Clark's Fork: Clark's Fork is less than an hour away, so you can hike there in the afternoon for program.
- Get ready for the Tooth: Prepare yourself for hiking the Tooth the next morning (if you are going back to base camp the next morning)
Words of Wisdom
- Don't rely on the water source.
- Be quiet enough to see the many deer. This shouldn't be too hard as they are quite abundant. Once, while coming down from the peak, our crew saw a herd of about 35. They walked 5 feet in front of us.
