- Number of Campsites: 8

Things to Do at Red Hills :
- Climb Big Red: Red Hills is located at the base of Big Red, one of the tallest mountains at Philmont. It is, however, a very steep climb (you climb up a path made by water, which travels down as fast as it can)
- Climb Mount Phillips: The second tallest mountain in Philmont (Baldy is the tallest) is a short hike away. Apparently it has an amazing view.
Words of Wisdom
- Red Hills does have a creek running through it (a quite large one actually). We were told my a staff camp that it was totally dry. It is the only dry camp that has a creek in it. There is also an oasis just up the trail.
- When leaving the camp, the map says that there is a path to the north east. This path was blocked off (as of June 2003). It is the path to go around Big Red. At that time, the only way to get to Black Mountain was via Big Red.
