Things to Do at Cypher's Mine :
- Mine Tour: Be sure to take a tour of the mine (unless you are especially tall and/or claustrophobic)
- Gold Panning: In the small stream that passes through the camp, you can pan for gold.
- Tough Guy Competition: Who is the toughest in all the area? Participate in the Tough Guy Competition, by telling a "tough guy" story (It does not need to be true)
- Stomp: Mr. Cypher is away for the night so his employees will be having a party at his house full of songs and stories.
- Muck Shack Living: While a miner at Cypher's Mine, you will be not staying in any wimpy tents, rather a muckshack (3 wall shack)
- Blacksmithing: Become a blacksmith for the day and as a crew, make a special memento of your Philmont trek.
- Showers: Cypher's Mine is equipped with a showerhouse so you can get yourself clean.
Words of Wisdom
- Do NOT skip the Stomp to go to sleep.
- Make sure you take a flashlight and a sweater to the Stomp, as it will be dark and cold afterwards, but don't where the sweater inside as it gets hot inside the small building.
- It might be worth building a 4th wall on your muckshack if you have a large crew. If your crew is smaller, just don't sleep by the open wall.
